Welcome
We at the European Avalanche School recognise that many people wish to experience wild winter mountain environments. This demands vigilance and an awareness of potential avalanche hazards. All Winter Mountain users such as; professional mountain guides and instructors, ski instructors, keen skiers, walkers and climbers require relevant and useful information which will enable them to pursue more safely their enjoyment of the winter mountain landscape.
In order to meet this challenge, the two main objectives of The European Avalanche School are:
To provide courses that give participants an in-depth knowledge of snow structure, the processes of change within it, and through field experience, develop recognition of snowpack stability and confidence in ascertaining potential avalanche risk.
To encourage a greater understanding of hazardous avalanche terrain and safer travel in mountain environments.
We hope this website will provide winter mountain users with some basic information about avalanche hazard and safety, the equipment you will need, and to give you the details and booking facility for our courses.
